Window into your Intuition

Being an adult is tough.  We have to make decisions.  Not just for ourselves, but for our families and others we have relationships with.  Now, don’t get me wrong, some decisions are quite simple like what to wear today.

Life presents the big questions to all of us and at different stages of our lives.  When we are confident, even these seemingly daunting decisions appear easy.  However, many of us, myself included, will delay making a decision because we don’t trust ourselves, or we want someone else to make the decision so we don’t have to deal with the consequences.

In yoga, we learn about an energy system called the chakras.  We have numerous energy centers within the body, but the system focuses mostly on seven that run up and down the spine.  These channels are like a highway sending various energies, emotions, and wisdom when needed.

The third chakra, also known as the Solar Plexus or Manipura chakra, is found just above your navel.  It regulates an inner knowing and gut instincts about things and people.  The way you respond to decision shows how strong or how balanced this chakra is.

When we are balanced in the Solar Plexus, we are confident in our selves and our decisions.  We have strong inner strength and dare to dream big.  We have the freedom to be us.  We know we are worthy of love, kindness and respect, and the world mirrors that back to us in relationships, jobs and what we do in our daily lives.

However, when this chakra’s energy is blocked or stagnant, it causes self-doubt.  We are scared and seek approval from others.  When we let others speak for us, we give up our power and our confidence to others.  We actually create more drama and chaos when we don’t listen to our instincts.  We lack faith in our true self.

Becoming aware of how you handle decision-making is the first stage of understanding how balanced your third chakra is.  We must go deep within our self to know who we really are, and accepting that person rather than trying to change our self to fit into a mold.

Challenges that develop our inner grit build our own personal power and balance this chakra.  We create confidence and trust in our inner voice when faced when given an opportunity to grow and learn.  We may make the wrong decision.  We may fail.  However, in falling, we pick ourselves up, and try again.

Our guts are powerful.  It is where our true self resides.  It is where truth, beauty and freedom can be found.  Give it a try by making a decision today.
